Lieutenant Alula Beru
Personal Log SD 202307.29

Alula padded around bare footed in her small temporary quarters aboard DS9, clad in her peach & white polka dotted short-set pajamas. It was still early in the day and she saw no reason to change out of her comfy outfit when all she had planned was to study the Deliverance's schematics. She pulled her long strawberry blond hair up into a messy pony tail, dotted some moisturizing face cream along her ridged forehead and cheeks and applied lip balm. She never went anywhere without lip balm. She stared at herself for a moment in the mirror, taking in her tanned face, sun-bleached arched eyebrows, uncharacteristically non-Romulan freckled nose and Trill spots running down the sides of her temples and then shrugged, chuckling at her image, "Good enough for a hybrid!"

Alula arrived yesterday from the USS Darwin, her former ship and post as Engineer and Transport Chief, and spent the evening at Quarks kicking back, gambling and having a great time. The week prior she had taken leave to vacation in San Diego, California on Earth w/ one of her shipmates before she said goodbye to her life on the Darwin. The San Diego resort rivaled Risa in its beautiful sun-drenched luxury. She spent her days laying on the beach, sipping beverages and surfing the waves. It was just the stress-release and relaxation she needed before beginning a new post as challenging as Chief of Engineering.

She picked up several PADDs from the desk and retrieved her large mug of steaming Spacebucks (Starbucks off world brand) from the replicator, then flopped on the couch. Putting her feet up on the small low table in front of her, she began to familiarize herself w/ her new ship.

Several hours and 3 mugs of Spacebucks had passed before Alula tossed the final PADD aside and stood up for a good stretch. Making a loud grumble, her stomach felt it's empty presence known and she giggled at its complaints. Even though it was well into the afternoon on DS9, she was craving breakfast, her favorite meal.

Standing before the food replicator, she said, "One order of Belgium waffles, turkey sausage links, hot maple syrup, whipped cream, a bowl of honeydew melon & blackberries and a large orange juice."

While previously stationed on the USS Potemkin, she was introduced to Earth's American-type breakfast by a colleague & friend from Earth, United States of America, Colorado. After one meal of cheesy scrambled eggs, crisp bacon, buttery hash browns and a side of fruit, she was hooked! Since then, she'd become a wiz at programming food replicators to produce an abundance of American breakfast foods, this one on DS9 included. ‘Ahhh! It was good to be an Engineer!!’ she thought happily.
