Personal log
Alula exited the TL at Deck 3 and followed the corridor all the way down until she found stateroom 05. She pressed the entrance button and the double doors slid open silently. She stepped into the darkened room and pressed the touch panel to her right to activate the lights. All controls to her quarters were currently in manual mode until she programmed her specific parameters into the system.
The light illuminated a small living room. There was a grey & cream desk w/ computer console on her immediate left wall and a compact navy blue couch facing a large view window against the far wall. In front of the couch was a clear low narrow table and on top of that was the cat carrier.
She dropped her duffle on the couch and opened the door, letting Fuzz & Rito out. They stepped out cautiously and slowly began to explore their surroundings. She left them to their own devices, knowing they would need to sniff everything and check out all the nooks & crannies before they would settle down.
The floor was covered in a thin durable navy carpet, dotted w/ a charcoal pattern. The walls were bare of decoration, but colored a soft pale grey. There were illuminated wall sconces on either side of the window in a green-blue marble pattern casting a cool relaxing hue around the room.
To the right of the window on the adjoining wall was the replicator. There was a narrow counter running under it w/ cabinets below and a tiny square dining table w/ 2 padded stools tucked under it. It was just enough space to enjoy a meal.
Across the room from the replicator on the opposite wall was her bedroom and refresher w/ sonic shower. The bedroom had the same pale grey walls and carpet, but the bed sheets were cream w/ blue & green trim, which brightened up the room considerably. There was a double row of drawers built into the wall w/ a long light colored organic floating counter above them. A wide mirror hung on the wall above the counter. A small side table sat next to the head of her bed w/ an embedded touch pad on its surface. A closet w/ a mirror on the outside was the only other adornment to the room. The placement of mirrors in the room made it seem bigger than it was. 'Well done, design engineers!' she thought.
There was enough space to replicate a cat tree for the kitties and set out a few scratching posts. There was a tiny nook in the wall near the desk where she could set up their sand box out of the way. And their food & water bowls would fit perfectly under the replicator.
Alula slowly walked around the small quarters and began to smile. It was nicer than she expected, still spartan, but definitely all hers!
