Mission:
To Boldly Go...
Location: Holodeck 1
Timeline: MD-15
The Mental Wellness team, ambassadors, and Office of Civilian Affairs had put together an excellent party, and "invitations" had been sent out via PADD.
Attention all hands: on October 31, we will be hosting a family-friendly Halloween Party in Holodeck 1. Please come, wear a costume, and bring your family for a fun time. We will have food, drinks, and entertainment, beginning at 1400 for the children. Adult themed events begin at 1900.
------------
Noxi was already there, wearing a mermaid costume. She rotated each year through three-mermaid, witch, and "human" on the years that she had been particularly busy or tired. This would be her first one that she was both single and childless, and she was looking forward to it. She smiled warmly at the staff handling the party, and thanked them for a fun evening. The children had already been through, after having made halloween themed pizza, cupcakes, and a craft project. Later, there would be a hayride and haunted house.
She was actually looking for the drink of the day-a spiced, hot spiked apple cider. She glanced around, and found her target-a long table set up with hors de oeuvres, drinks, and plates. She helped herself to a glass of the hot liquid, and waited around to see who would show.
Rose's first few costume ideas were... Less than child friendly. Death more brutal and ruthless than the infinite black she called home, horrors from Boomer myths, or worse. Halloween being about dressing up. But Rose wasn't exactly the type for whimsy, and hadn't found time for many bits of entertainment or fun, so her knowledge of pop culture was limited to say the least. So she decided to say screw it, and dressed... Well.
A long, elegant and slinky dress highlighting every curve, putting every curve of her form and detail of her scar-warped.tattoo work on bold display, repaired and patched with eye liner. A belt of golden threads hung across her hip, dividing her form as the asymmetrical dress highlighted her strongly built form and catlike step. She had done away with her normal mag boots in exchange for a sensible flat shoe that seemed more a glass slipper than something someone so rough and tumble would wear. She had even taken the time to do up her hair into a regal crest of auburn and brass in an annoyingly Earther style and done her makeup. Altogether she almost looked as some Terran walking to a formal event rather than the rough and tumble Boomer she normally embodied.
But delaying the perception of the wild Rose being possessed, she still gravitated towards the sign marking real alcohol from synthehol and filled herself a healthy dose of hard cider. Her first time celebrating Halloween, dressed as some worldborn socialite, and way too sober for the festivities.
The Chandlers all arrived together dressed up for the ship's Halloween party. Drew was in a pirate's costume consisting of a white silk v neck shirt, leather vest, leather pants and ankle high boots with a gold hoop earring n his left ear. Ashley wore a red unitard with black polkadots, a matching domino mask and matching yo-yo tied about her waist with black knee high boots. Rachel was decked out in a black v neck dress that looked almost painted on her body, the plunging v neck open to her just below her navel. Her lips were blood red and when she smiled she revealed viscous fangs. The group made their way to the refreshment table whilst greeting other officers and crew. Rachel's outfit gathering copious attention from the males in attendance.
To be fair, it wasn't just men ogling Rachel as Rose's makeup hid her blush. But here she was fighting a stir in her chest and stomach fighting the immediate sledgehammer of... Were those feelings? Was that attraction?! What the hell, Rose, you choose now to have your gay awakening?!. The spacer proceeded to chug her drink and fill another. Definitely too sober for this, and now drowning her response in alcohol.
Damian arrived at the party full knowing that Rachel had no idea he would be there. It bothered him slightly that other men were ogling her. Morgan was dressed in a black tuxedo, decked out with bow tie and shoes to match. He thought he looked rather dapper.
He ordered a gin martini (extra olives) and walked in Rachel’s direction. She was dressed as a rather sexy vampire, leaving little to the imagination. That didn’t stop him from what he did next.
Damian put down his martini glass and said, “Pardon me,”. He spun Rachel around, wrapped her in his arms and kissed her passionately. Her “fangs” felt strange as his tongue explored the inside of her mouth and swept against their sharp tips.
Rachel was pleasantly surprised by Damian's 'ambush' kiss and returned the kiss just as passionately. The kiss lasted for a good ten count or more. When it finally ended she looked up at him and released a breathless sigh before grabbing a napkin wiping the lipstick from Damian's mouth. She went up on tippy toes and whispered in his ear. "Keep that up and we won't be staying at the party very long."
“Hmmmm….I did have ulterior motives, my dear. But as a dapper secret agent-spy I am supposed to sweep a beautiful woman off her feet. And you are quite beautiful, Rachel. You look divine. Shall we make a discreet exit or would like to “wet your whistle” as the saying goes? I have a martini—can I get you something?”, Damian said, rather taken with Rachel. How he longed to hold her and kiss her for the rest of the evening.
Elly LOVED costume parties. Why shouldn't she?! Any excuse to dress up was good enough for her, and she loved Halloween. All the winter holidays from Earth, really, but Halloween especially. Who didn't like a good scare? Anyway, she was dressed as a witch, with a loose, flowy black gown, pointy hat, and carried a broom and (fake) black cat. She found her maybe-boyfriend-she-wasn't-looking-for dressed as a pirate, and smiled. "Hey!!" she called out from behind them, and smiled. "Look at YOU guys!!" She smiled.
Ashley turned to Elly and smiled. The woman looked amazing in her outfit, her smile even more so. "Wow. You look...I don't know...what do you say dad?"
Drew turned and froze up as he laid eyes on Elly. Though his body couldn't move, his mind was whirling. It was a few seconds before he responded with a smile on his face. "You look...bewitching Elly, truly."
Ashley grinned at her father's expression and turned back to Elly. "I think my dad said what we all think."
"Thanks," she said, blushing lightly, moving closer to the family. She wanted to progress things a bit further with Drew but she was scared, if she were honest. "You all look good," she said. "Did you come earlier for the kid stuff?" Elly asked Ashley, trying to include the teenager. "Probably not. You're far too mature for that, right?" She said. She sighed lightly. Now what? The usually chatty woman found herself...mixed up. She wasn't used to Big Feelings, and she definitely wasn't used to doing this kind of thing. She'd only had two boyfriends before, and while she was good at hiding it, she had a small self-esteem issue she was working on. PLUS she felt like people could see the struggle and poverty she'd went through as a child around the edges.
Rose scanned from her drink for something, anything to distract her from the party, till she caught eyes and ears of Drew and Elly, and watched with barely contained amusement. Alright, airhead. You shoot your shot with that goofy looking Earther or I'll shoot it for you.
Noxi sipped her cider, and shook her head. Indeed, it seemed that people were already coupling up. She smiled, though. It was fine. As long as it didn't distract from one's duties, could she really care that much? No. She, herself, had been married to another officer for a decade and a half. It'd be a bit of a hypocritical stance. Still, the counselor's outfit was a *bit* much, or was she just getting old?! Probably the second. Calm down, Nox.
Mira entered in dressed as a Sith Apprentice with Mike being a Sith master. Black hooded cloaks with dark paint on or a mask hidden behind. it was hard to tell, if it was him behind the mask, where as she opted for the dark paint. They sat down after getting a drink and began in a deep discussion.
Devon arrived sporting a toga with ornate red trim, an outfit befitting a Roman senator of old. He made his way through the growing crowd and marveled at the variety of costumes on display. He finally got to the refreshment table and poured a healthy dose of the cider into the shiny goblet he carried before seeking out the one person he truly wanted to see. He found her close by observing her officers and crew quietly. He stood for a moment admiring her mermaid costume before stepping fully into her vision. "Looks like your party is off to a good start there Captain, though I dare say the Seven Seas must be missing their loveliest mermaid at the moment."
Noxi smiled. "Thank you. You look...good," she said. Really, he had a nice physique, and she would be lying if she said that she didn't like to look at him. "A drink?" she asked. She might let herself have a second-but no more. She needed to set the example, after all. Still. If he got another in her, she might let him take her back to his tonight.
Devon raised his goblet to Noxi. "Way ahead of you my dear Captain." His free hand took hold of hers and gently kissed the knuckle. He looked about the party and noticed Drew Ashley and Rachel. "I wasn't aware that Lieutenant Commander Chandler was part of your crew. I worked with him several times on Deep Space Nine and Bajor."
Noxi smiled. "I am glad," she said, referring to his drink. "OH! Really?" She asked. "He is my Tactical officer," she said. "Very good at it, from what I can see so far," she said. "I tend to run the ship as a collaborative thing," she said, "And his input is always very good and helpful," she said. It was true. Noxi was very aware of her own abilities and inabilities and didn't mind admitting when she didn't know something.
Devon nodded with approval. "He is a remarkable officer. One of the most knowledgeable fellows I have worked with in regards to integrating the Bajoran Militia into Starfleet's ranks." He watched Drew for a moment in mild surprise. "You know, I have seen that man surrounded by beautiful women who were vying for his attention at celebrations such as this. I don't think I have ever seen him actually show anything more than professionalism to anyone. Do you mind if we go and mingle a bit?"
Noxi nodded. "I probably should," she said, extending a hand. "Let's go," she said, pulling him along.
Devon took Noxi's hand and fell in step as they crossed to where a majority of her senior and junior officers were gathered. He nodded at Drew who responded in kind, but was obviously more focused on his daughter and a beautiful young blonde woman.
"Hello, sir, ma'am," the beautiful young blonde said, with a nod of her head, before she returned to her conversation with her group.
Rachel slid a hand down Damian's back until she was able to grab a handful of his backside and give it a gentle tug. "Patience Secret Agent Man. I want to spend some time with my brother and niece at the moment. You will be getting very lucky tonight, that I promise." She had been extraordinarily patient in progressing their intimacy, but she was wanting much more than passionate kisses in private moments. "I wore this for you, and trust me, it has surprises for you."
Damian kissed Rachel’s hand and said, “Something to look forward to, then. Let’s go see what Ashley and Mr. Chandler are up to.” Morgan put his arm out to allow Rachel to link hers into his. They then glided through the party crowd to find her aforementioned brother and niece.
Elly was still standing there, like an idiot, grinning, as the Commander and Rachel approached. Elly took a look at the woman. "Wow, Rachel. I might need to borrow that dress someday, if I ever...." she blushed and shut up before she embarrassed herself in public. In front of her XO. That'd be great. Not. "Commander," she nodded once. "Drew, I am gong to get a drink. Ashley, they have some hot cider that is not alcoholic, and hot cocoa, too," she said. Elly didn't drink a lot herself, but she did like to indulge occasionally. "Drew, would you like one? The hot cider is spiked, and there's wine, and some kind of ale, too, plus all the regular bar drinks," she said.
"Alright," a pleasantly tipsy Rose swiped two slices of bread off the refreshments table before proceeding to show Elly how to embarrass herself. "Andrew Chandler! Been a long time. How'd that garter that escaped my holodeck simulation go over? Made you a sandwich."
She offered the two slices of bread before a wide smirk crossed her face. "All I need to finish it is that meat."
Elly blinked a moment, and looked at Rachel and Ashley. She suppressed a laugh. What a lame line!! That was even WORSE than that one time the guy at the Academy had said "Are you a Pepsi? Because you are looking Soda-licious" and she'd laughed so hard that she'd farted loudly. Interestingly, he'd never looked at her again, but Andy had teased her about it for the next three years. She watched, though, to see if Drew would respond. It was OK with her-they weren't a "thing" and it wasn't like she had staked a claim or something.
Drew looked at Rose with a friendly but professional manner. "I am afraid it probably wouldn't be spicy enough for you Rose." He glanced around and pointed out two or three other people who he could tell were scoping Rose out. "Perhaps you could find what you want by wandering the market for a bit."
"How...?" Rose wasn't sure how to respond to that, someone knowing how to take her raunchiest pickup line and turn it around to let her down gently.
Elly smiled gently. What a class act that Drew was. Hmm. That made him just even that more hot in her book. She turned to Rose. "Wanna come with me to get drinks?" She asked her colleague. "Mike Barton is here. Maybe he has your meat stick," she said, with a shrug.
“Good evening, everyone,” said Damian. “Don’t we all look nice? Ashley, you look very pretty. From your Aunt, I’m sure. No offense, Mr. Chandler. Turn out is better than expected, I think. I usually avoid these things, but {clears throat} there was someone I wanted to see again. Hope you all are having a good time.”
"Hey, Commander," Elly said, as she turned around to find the drinks table. "Excuse me, I'll be right back," she said. She left and returned a moment later with a few plastic glasses of the spiked cider. She handed one off to each adult.
Several members of the crew were just finishing setting up instruments on the stage and music began to play, something for those who wanted to slow dance.
Rachel turned to Damian. "Care to sweep a lady off her feet double oh handsome?"
“Double-oh? Ahh, I get it…. Very funny what you did there. Dance? Of course-come on. It would be my pleasure.”
Morgan stepped hand in hand to the dance floor with Rachel. He held her closely against him as they seemingly floated over the floor. “This is nice. And thank you for indulging me. I mean the kiss….you do something to me I can’t explain. It’s like there’s no one else in the room. I can’t concentrate…all I can do is think about you. You smell amazing, by the way.”
Rachel wrapped her arms around Damian's neck and went on tippy toes to give him another kiss. "You smell absolutely delicious as well. So much so that I may have to take a bite and suck down all your...blood."
“Then I offer myself to you , madame,” Damian said. He teasingly tilted his neck and pulled Rachel in close. “What do you say we have one more spin on the floor and get out of here?”
Rachel nodded. "Read my mind Commander."
Ashley turned to Drew. "You know dad. I think you should ask the prettiest woman here to dance. What do you think?"
"I think Elly's the pretty one with an interest in spiceless sandwiches," Rose smirked. "And Elly's not exactly subtle enough for a dumbass like me to miss her signs." She placed a hand on her hip as she summoned a holographic console to her side and started entering parameters to change her costume with a trigger word, and only for a second or two. "I just see the funny looking Earther with the uncanny ability to shoot me down and leave me in a flaming wreck before the normies!"
Elly sipped her drink while listening to Rose. She cringed a little. It wasn't a good look-at a party?! Ok. She was about to say something but was interrupted by Drew's voice.
Drew gave Rose a brief glance before turning to Elly. A smile formed on his face and he was extremely tempted to ask Elly. He even started to raise a hand then suddenly turned to Ashley. "I think you are right. Right now I would love if my beautiful daughter would grace me with the first dance." He glanced at Elly and Rose. "If you'll excuse us ladies."
Elly smiled. That's how it should be. She turned to Rose, her blue eyes flashing.
"Why are you so mean?" She asked, simply, before walking off. She headed for the snack table again, but this time, she wanted a second drink. She would only have the one more, before she really DID do something stupid. She needed to ask Drew what an "earther" was, and why it was an insult in this lady's mind. She wasn't sure why it mattered where one came from; weren't they supposed to be above that now?! She watched the father and daughter dance, a smile on her face. She really liked their bond, and maybe someday, she'd be allowed to join in it.
"Cause nice gets you dead?" Rose cocked an eyebrow before watching Elly make her way to the refreshment table to top off her drink. Her cup must be broken if it were empty. Understanding the botanist seemed beyond her, not that she cared. After all, Rose had work to do most days. And she wasn't actually interested in the man who had been a help and a hindrance in equal measure last life. She wouldn't date outside her rank, no enlisted, no superiors, no subordinates. She did, however, take Elly up on her earlier offer of a shot at the drinks table. "So, what's your plans for the arboretum? Just so I know what I'm doing cause I'm finishing out the foundations tomorrow."
"Um, I am not sure yet. I haven't finished the final plans," she said, absently, watching Drew. "But I definitely need palm trees." She laughed. "And maybe some Bajoran lilies. For the Captain," she said.
Ashley and Drew stepped out onto the dance floor. Ashley frowned slightly as she looked between her father, Elly and back to her father. "I don't get it. Elly obviously likes you and you like her. I can tell. Why would you pick me to dance with first?"
Drew took a deep breath and sighed as he spared a glance at Elly before turning back to Ashley. "You're right. I do like Elly, but one thing that I want, that I need to make clear is that you are my very beautiful daughter...and...I will always choose you first. Over Starfleet, Elly, life...even over your mother if she was still with us. You...will understand that someday."
"Too easy, too easy, coconut palms and date palms yes, I like dates... might have to get pygmi varieties due to bay height restrictions, but can go in the rear corners by the pond where there's high flow rate but low soil water which will keep them from rotting out on us, Bajoran lillies can hang over the entry cause they don't need deep soil... I'll put out a..." Her voice trailed off as she glanced where Elly was looking. "You want me to grab you two and make you kiss like damn Barbie dolls or are you gonna go for it? You're cute, really. And he's kinda pretty... For a human. Look, I may have trouble with social queues. That man needs runway lights. Go forth and make ya self known before I start harassing him about missing signs a former psyker caught. And doesn't Barton outrank me? By... Like a lot? Oop. Favorite Gorn just walked in!"
Elly nodded, barely listening to Rose. "Yeah, over the door should be fine!! But I was planning to hang some kind of trellis plant. Maybe Andorian Hyacinth," she said, still staring at her Pirate. Then, she blushed. "NO!" She said. "I will. Just...not here." She said. Unlike Rachel and the Commander, she wasn't huge on PDAs.
Neyin would Eventually join the costume party, having dicided to make a costume himself. From the neck down He was wearing what could best be discribed as a vending machine with a coin slot filled with various beverages. Walking over to everyone He waved. "Hey guys and gals and non binary pals."
Rose waved for Neyin to come over to her, "Hey, ya big scaly nerd! Fine, Elly. Just... Promise you'll be careful with him. He's a good man. And I can't imagine he's fully healed up, yet. I know I ain't."
Dalton didn't enjoy parties, which some found rather strange considering his interests outside the uniform. The shy and quiet man enjoyed some rather thrilling and adrenaline fuelled activities. Yet, mingling and making small talk even with those he was acquainted with was.... tedious. He was only here because it was mandatory. Sitting at the highly decorated bar wearing a rather drab skeleton costume to fit the theme Alex sat alone watching the others interact and rolled his eyes at the obvious attraction displayed among several of the staff. Dating as another element of life's tedious traits Alex wasn't interested in.
Mike went over and introduced himself to Dalton, "Hey, man. What's going on?" He waited for a reply, "I don't mean to intimidate or intrude. I'm hoping to make friendly connections. Not use any of my security status."
"Hi," Alex replied having been pulled for his brooding. "That's fine, pull up a seat and watch the sepcital," he patted an empty bar stool. "Drink?" he asked next before waving over the barmen.
"Sure." Mike said ordering a drink from the bar. "What's your take on this crew?"
Mira sat and started drinking. She watched the others, hiding her smile trying to be as much of her "character" as possible.
Noxi heard the music starting. "Care to dance, Ambassador?" She said. She called him that sometimes, mostly in public, because a cutesy nickname wasn't very "Captain-y" of her.
Devon turned to Noxi and smiled. "I was just about to ask you the same thing Captain." He held out a hand and took hers then led her out to the dance floor. He place his other hand on her waist and led them in the dance. He glanced around and nodded in approval. "Seems to me like this party is off to a very good start and it appears some of the attendees are looking forward to leaving after a respectful period to enjoy their evenings with their special someones."
Noxi nodded. "It does seem that way," she said. "So, do you have any plans for after the party?" she asked. Not that she was trying to gauge his openness to come back with her, but she didn't do small talk well.
Devon pulled Noxi close and whispered in her ear. "My only plan is to serve you breakfast in bed in the morning. Probably best if you spent the night at my place. Oh and engineering just finished installing the new jacuzzi tub."
Noxi laughed. "Alright. As soon as we can, let's make like trees, and leave," she said. "I definitely will need to inspect their work," she said, with a cheeky smile.
Devon glanced around and nodded. "Let me know when you're ready to go."
As the first song ended, Noxi grinned. "Now. A strategic exit. And our XO has already gone," she noted. The others would have more fun without the command team around, she knew. "Hang close to the walls, and pretend like there's an emergency," she advised, slipping towards the exit carefully.
The first song ended and Ashley curtsied to her father who in turn bowed back. She then looked over to Elly. "I think I am going to warp out if it's okay with you." She glanced at Rachel and shook her head a moment. "Thinking this might not be the place for a fourteen year old girl to hang out anymore tonight. Why don't you go dance with Elly and have a good time tonight." She turned and headed for the exit.
Drew smiled as Ashley left. He was quite proud of Ashley and her knowing when a party was not suitable for her. He finally walked over to Elly after Ashley left and held out his hand. "Ashley decided to leave early. So...would the current most beautiful woman in attendance be up for the next dance?"
Elly laughed. "Sure," she said. "Yeah, she's a smart kid. You must be proud," she said, as she let him lead her to the dance floor. "I warned you before that I am not a very good dancer," she said. "And I meant it," she said. Indeed, she started to bob her head a little; this one wasn't a "slow dance", per se. "Anyway, it's very sweet that you took the first dance with her. I admire that you put her before others. I'd like to think that I would've, too," she said.
Drew gave Elly a warm smile. "I'm positive you will be a wonderful mother some day." He slid a little closer, but not to take her in his arms as this was not a particularly slow song. He glanced towards Damian and his sister. Something was definitely going on there. Rachel was a grown woman. He gazed back at Elly as the music transitioned to another fast song. "You up for another drink, maybe catch the next slow song.
"Thanks," she said, blushing again. "Maybe someday," she said. She noticed him move closer. "Yeah!!" Another drink would calm her frazzled nerves. Elly looked in the direction of Rachel and Morgan. "She's an adult," she said, chiding him. "But I get it; Andy's got a girlfriend and I definitely didn't have Security at my old posting check her out," she said, with a wink. "But no more cider. I think it'll give me diabetes!" She said. This may have been a miscalculation on Elly's part-she forgets she's a lightweight sometimes.
Drew could sense Elly was feeling the affects of the alcoholic cider. Though it was still relatively early, he felt an overwhelming urge of protectiveness for Elly. "You sure you are OK?"
Elly nodded. "I think so?" She was feeling a little lightheaded-a combination of her confusing feelings for Drew Chandler AND the two glasses of hard cider she'd already had. "Maybe...I should have just some water," she said. A better idea. "Then we can have another slow dance!" She said, enthusiastically.
Drew nodded. "Give me a moment." He was gone for less than a minute. He returned to Elly's side and handed her a tall glass of water. "Here you go. Slow sips." He sipped his own water and felt content to just watch her.
"Thanks!" She drank the water slowly, and carefully, making sure not to spill it on herself-a habit she had.
Rachel ran her hands down Damian's chest and grasped his hips as the music moves to another fast song. "Okay handsome Secret Agent Man. I think it's time we leave." She gave him a slight tug. "Time for you to show me what you've been hiding in that uniform of yours."
Morgan responded by using his hands to trace the curves of Rachel’s body, stopping at her firm bottom. “Perfect idea, pretty lady. You said you had a surprise to show me? No time like the present.”
The couple left the party together, barely saying a word to each other.
Watching Elly move off to dance, Rose gave a soft smile, throwing back a deep swig of cider before she waved to Neyin again before moving to sit, summoning a holographic PADD to her side to work on her Arboretum plans, make them public to she ship, simulate the placements of Andorian hyacinth and Bajoran lillies along the paths, plots for trees and plants, open spaces where things yet undecided would grow, biology maps of isopods and insects and serpents and fish, the Betazed water plants growing and blooming in the paradise of her design. Turning, she regarded the Sith costume next to her on the seat, brows furrowing. "What do you think?"
Neyin Walked over handing Rose a bottled drink. "Here you go, by the looks of it your rather thirsty" he joked cocking a smile.
"Hey, ya big lug!" Rose gave a small laugh at Neyin's costume, breaking into a smile as she accepted the offer of a drink. "How's the astrophysics coursework treating you?"
Mira had dozed off from too much drinking and Mike noticed this. He nudged her awake, "I think you need bed." He heard her grumble that she's suppose to order him, not the other way around. "Come on, I'll help you." He said in a kind gesture as she grumpily gotten up and was lead out with him.
The music slowed once again and Drew held a hand out to Elly. "Care for a slow dance?" Elly smiled, and nodded. "Sure," she said. She let him lead her to the dance floor, and put her hands carefully on his body.
Drew placed his hands just above Elly's hips and kept them there as they took small steps and swayed to the music. He looked into her eyes as thoughts of kissing her sprung to his mind. It was nigh impossible to resist the temptation, especially as he recalled how soft they had felt during their accidental kiss the first time he had walked her back to quarters after dinner. Instead, he emulated her and spoke the thought that came to mind. "You are beautiful." He blushed as the words emerged from his mouth.
"Thanks," she said, blushing a little herself. "When we're done here, let's go," she said. She, too, wanted to kiss him. But she didn't like doing it in public places. At least...not yet. Not that she cared about judgements, she just thought it was kind of rude to other people.
Drew seemed calm as he nodded at Elly's suggestion. Inside he was feeling nervous. He had only had one drink since arriving at the party and knew that Elly had had several. He didn't want to take advantage of Elly if she was in an inebriated state. "We will leave when you are ready. Just give the word."
Elly nodded. "Yeah..let's go now, then," she said. "I need to lie down, I think," she said. Admittedly, she'd only had three glasses of the cider but she was a smaller woman with a more sensitive constitution. She couldn't drink like her brothers. Luckily, she hadn't had enough to be stupid drunk, just a bit buzzy and feeling good. "If you're lucky, I might show you my quarters," she said, cheekily.
